I don’t know much about Australia, but over there, I’m sure the police get into chases with kangaroos all the time, throwing boomerangs until they catch them and then celebrate with a bloomin’ onion at the local Outback Steakhouse.
Over here, kangaroo chases are very rare. So we’ve got to think the police in Dade City, Florida were completely out of their element when they got into one this weekend.
On Saturday night, a 200-pound kangaroo got loose. Turns out you can own a kangaroo in Florida as long as you have a permit, and the cops believe a family in the area owned this particular kangaroo.
On Sunday morning, the cops spotted the kangaroo and started chasing him. But the kangaroo was apparently very elusive and the cops ended up in a ten-hour chase with the thing before they finally shot him with a tranquilizer dart.
They’re still waiting for the kangaroo’s owners to come claim him.
